The teachers planned an archaeological dig for the 2nd, 3rd, and 4th Graders. They created a dig (8 feet by 8 feet) with 64 quadrants in our large sandbox and buried Silk Road-related objects in most of the quadrants. The students were assigned squares in which to dig and they found wonderful objects which they documented and identified. There were silk fabrics and tea from China, spices from India, and 2000-year old bronze coins and a 2000-year old bronze needle from Rome. It was a thrilling experience!
