On Friday, January 29, the K/1 class welcomed Rick Fienberg, an astronomer with the American Astronomical Society. Rick brought two of his six telescopes for his demonstration. Student questions included, "How long would it take you to become fully stretched out inside a black hole?" (answer: mere seconds) and "What did you want to be when you were our age?" (answer: an astronomer!). Everyone was especially excited to learn that a real planet with two suns, like Tatooine from Star Wars, was recently discovered. The International Astronomical Union (IAU), for which Rick serves as Vice-President of Commission C2, Communicating Astronomy with the Public, has named asteroid 9983 Rickfienberg in his honor.
