Tom Gumbart, Conservation Director of Lincoln and Birches Earth Science Advisor, gave a fascinating presentation about pollinators this week to the 2nd through 6th Graders. He illustrated his lecture with extraordinary close-up photographs he had taken himself. This photograph shows a monarch butterfly. Monarch butterflies have been spotted in the Lincoln Pollinator Meadow Birches students helped plant. Very exciting.
At All-School Meeting today, one student commented on Tom's presentation: "Tom showed us butterflies, moths, lots of different types of bees and hummingbirds. There was an interesting pollinator called the sweat bee that can even land on you and suck the sweat off your skin."
Thank you, Tom!
