AFTERSCHOOL TEACHER/ASSOCIATE DIRECTOR OF SUMMER EXPLORATIONS

Eliza joined the Birches team full-time in the Fall of 2024. She has a background in Educational Psychology, with a focus on Family and Human Development. In college, she worked as a summer school teacher in various Title I schools, aiming to close the educational achievement gap and support students through social-emotional learning. From there, she worked at Arizonan's For Children as a Visitation Supervisor, assisting the court and foster care systems to provide a safe environment for families to restore the parent-child relationship. She was responsible for the evaluation of a parent's successful incorporation of parenting skills gained through State provided counseling and classes, determining parental suitability, and aiding in the possibility of family reunification. In her free time, you can find her crocheting, reading, doing yoga, or learning a new craft. In addition to her essential role in Afterschool during the school year, Eliza leads Birches Summer Explorations program. Eliza has a lifelong passion for education, children, and families, and she loves bringing her experience to the Birches community!
