SARA MOHAN, M.M.

MUSIC TEACHER

Sara Mohan is a violinist and music educator who has been facilitating group music-making since 2000. She has taught vocal and instrumental music to students of all ages, preparing them for performances in settings ranging from house concerts to Carnegie Hall. Sara delights in nurturing each student's musical growth to inspire a lifetime of joyful participation in music. Sara is thrilled to join the Birches community of inspired educators and enthusiastic learners!

Sara brings over a decade of experience teaching music in public elementary schools in California and Massachusetts. A versatile musician, she has performed in classical orchestras and chamber ensembles, musical theater pit orchestras, and a traditional Arabic orchestra. She also enjoys playing Irish traditional fiddle, and has studied Carnatic violin in Kerala, India. Sara has an insatiable curiosity about music and languages, and has lived in Spain, Germany, and Switzerland. 

Sara holds a B.A. from Northwestern University and an M.M. from San Francisco State University. She is a licensed music educator in both California and Massachusetts. She has Kodály Level I and Orff-Schulwerk Level II certifications, and she is a certified Level II James Hill Ukulele Initiative Teacher.
