MARA LAPPIN, M.A.
4/5 TEACHER

Mara earned her B.A. in 1993 from the University of New Hampshire with a major in linguistics and a minor in Japanese; she spent her junior year at Kansai International University in Osaka, Japan. After graduating from college, she taught English in Japan for three years to middle and high school students. In 1998 she received her Master of Arts in teaching elementary education from Simmons University. For ten years, Mara was a lower school educator, first at the Bancroft School in Worcester, MA and then at Milton Academy in Milton, MA. She also taught Japanese at Noble and Greenough School in Dedham. For the last seven years, before coming to Birches, she was the Admissions Office Manager and Assistant to the Head of Admissions at Dexter Southfield School in Brookline, MA. Mara is very happy to be back in the classroom—her true passion—as the 4/5 co-teacher. Mara lives in Dedham with her two kids, and she loves paddle boarding, collecting sea-glass, cycling, cooking, working out on her peloton and spending quality time with family and friends on the Cape...her happy place.
