MIDDLE SCHOOL HUMANITIES TEACHER

Tassia Thomas is thrilled to be teaching the oldest students at Birches. Tassia is a champion of integrated learning across disciplines, team teaching, and the responsive classroom model. She taught Arts and Humanities to 7th and 8th grade students at the Francis W. Parker Essential School for eight years. Prior to that, she taught 6th, 7th, and 8th grade students at The Greenfield Center School in western Massachusetts. She has coached and mentored new teachers through The New Teachers Collaborative and at Tufts University. As a Critical Friends Coach and member of the National School Reform Faculty, Tassia has worked to help teachers improve student learning through collaborative learning communities. Tassia received her B.A. from Hampshire College and M.A.T. from Simmons College. One of her daughters graduated from the 8th grade at Birches in 2021 and her other daughter is a 7th grader.
